Kruger Park: The Landscape
This was actually still outside of Kruger Park. We stayed a night in Pretoria
and drove our rental car some 500km to the reserve. After another night in
Phalaborwa, we entered the park.
We were very lucky with the weather. Scattered clouds, probably more than 30 degrees
Celsius, not very windy.
Kruger Park is not only beautiful for its animals but also for
its landscape. South Africa, in general, is much greener than most
people would guess. The rich vegetation provides enough food for the animals (who spend
most of their time eating anyways).
Some of the camps in the park offer
a spectacular view on the vast landscape (Kruger spans two million hectares,
about the size of Wales in the UK).

After two days (and one exciting, sometimes scary night in Tamboti tent camp),
we left the nature reserve. The park authority checked our trunk for dead lions
or elephants but we didn't have any (we had eaten them already).
